Well... Scott is still driving the rental truck (toyota tundra... don't recommend you buy one). The insurance person told us the other party has insurance, so it looks like our deductible will be $750 smackeroos. The truck is in Houston so Scott will have to negotiate with the body shop to see how on earth we're going to pay for this and how soon they'll let us have the suburban back.
We really, really want to go to Iowa for Thanksgiving. I requested vacation for the first part of Thanksgiving week so we can spend the full week in Iowa. I hope it doesn't snow. The kids are anxious to get out of school for a couple of days & really anxious to see their friends in Waterloo & their cousins in Iowa City. The deal clincher is going to be if we can afford to get the suburban out of the body shop and afford the trip itself since Scott will be sacrificing a week of pay. Thank goodness I have vacation pay, right.
Scott is hanging by the proverbial thread over in Houston. He gave his notice to his landlord & to his boss that Nov. 14th is his last day working there. BUT -- as soon as he did this the investor who is interested in helping us purchase the business in Houston asked Scott to stay there until they are certain the purchase is NOT going to happen. This man is very optomistic that the purchase can be concluded by the end of the year. ((sigh)) This means another 6 weeks of not knowing what's going on; whether we'll be owners or not.
The Homecoming Dance went fantastic for Dillon & Madison. They had so much fun!! However Jared's alternative plans to homecoming didn't go so well. He ended up in trouble with the Williamson County Sheriff after he & a friend went into a 'model home' at 11pm. Needless to say, this 'extra-curricular activity' will cost him a pretty penny and the misdemeanor charge will follow him since he's charged as an adult. I believe it's also going cost him a trip to Iowa for Thanksgiving. His inital court appearance is on Monday of Thanksgiving week. If we are able to get the suburban back & scrape some money together we plan to go to Iowa, with or without Jared. :( Sad for Jared since we all want him to come to Iowa. But consequences are consequences. This is the part of parenting I hate (and hate is a pretty strong word).
Scott's birthday was on Saturday. He's 40!! We were hoping for an Iowa football win & a Texas football win for his birthday, but we didn't get either one. Boo. We went across the street to Nick's house for a grill-out since Nick's birthday is the day after Scott's, he's 25. Geez, do we feel old!! We met up with Kurt & Jeannetta on Sunday night for ice cream from 'Amy's'. When the server found out it was Scott's birthday she had him back up across the room with his bowl & she THREW his ice cream to him in the air!! It was hysterical. Had to be there. We had a good time.
Wish I had more good news; I guess that we're plugging along is good news. We are enjoying the nice weather; 80's during day & 60's at night. Scott's health is doing pretty good! His back has really healed well, he only gets back aches once in a while... a good back rub usually helps that. :)
